If you follow me on Instagram you may already know but last weekend I had a miscarriage. I was about 8 weeks and still in the early stages of my pregnancy. As I mentioned in my instagram post, I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this part of my life with everyone but I soon realized that this subject is not often talked about even though miscarriages are VERY common.
I’ll spare you the details and I’m sure it’s different for everyone’s body but on the day I started my miscarriage, I personally experienced blood and contraction cramps. I seriously felt like I was in labor– thanks to modern medicine, motrin eased my pain. I’m not sure if you noticed that I wrote, “the day I started my miscarriage” b/c it the bleeding and cramping was ongoing and it lasted a few days. In my lack of knowledge and stupidity I always thought a miscarriage was a one and done situation, but it’s not. It can last days even weeks.
I am overwhelmed by the number of people who responded to my instagram post and I was brought to tears while reading how some had not only 1 but 2 or 3 miscarriages. It’s heartbreaking b/c this isn’t something I would wish on any woman. I’m so thankful for the support. Social media can be a wonderful place for us to relate to one another b/c we have all experienced heartache and disappointment at some point in our lives. This kind of encouraging community and building up is what makes moving on a little easier.
Life is not over, I’m still here and healthy and I’m ready to try again (once I get the green light from my doc). If you’ve gone through this, i’d love to hear about your experience.
Thank you all for reading! xo
