My escape to Catalina Island
Travel to Catalina Island, Two Harbors
Last week Eric and I dropped Rylie off with my mom and hopped on the Catalina Express to visit the beautiful Catalina Island which is just off the coast of Southern California. We both had never been before so we were really excited to experience paradise so close to our home– it’s only an hour away by boat and there are a few docks along the coast you can board.
What We Did
As soon as we arrived on the Island I was taken by the gorgeous sights. It’s beautiful and my pictures above don’t do justice. It was hard to believe that we were still in California. We relaxed in our very own beautifully furnished palapa at harbor sands while enjoying their delicious signature food and drinks. The friendly waitress brought over complimentary watermelons which were perfect for the warm day.
The palapa on Harbor Sands was hands down the highlight of our trip. I would definitely recommend to anyone who visits Two Harbors to rent your very own private palapa on the beach. They are roomy enough to accommodate a group of 8, yet cozy and intimate for couples to enjoy their time together. Other amenities include beach/lounge chairs, towels, bottled water and fruit smoothies and more. You can find more information here.
Where We Ate
We had dinner at Harbor Reef, a casual restaurant with island vibes located down by the beach. If you go, try their refreshing signature “Buffalo Milk” drink (fyi, there are wild buffalos roaming the island, we saw two during our stay).
Where We Stayed
We stayed the night at a charming B&B called, The Banning House which was originally a summer home to the Banning Brothers. The views are amazing! Eric and I walked around the B&B and soaked up the breathtaking views of both sides of the island. I very much enjoyed the complimentary wine & cheese hour outside on the courtyard overlooking the harbors.
What I Wore

Beach Outfit: maxi dress and maxi dress // cross body bag // beach bag // sandals // hat // sunnies
Dinner Outfit: maxi dress // cross body bag // sandals // hat // sunnies
Travel Outfit: t-shirt // shorts // beach bag // sandals // hat // sunnies
Unfortunately we didn’t have time to visit the Avolon side but that just means we need to go back to do some more exploring, and I’m ok with that. If you’re in need of a little getaway, I definitely would recommend visiting Two Harbors and make sure you get yourself a Palapa on the Harbor Sands beach because it is WORTH IT!
Thank you to The Catalina Island Company for Inviting us out. All opinions are my own.
